What is the difference between Top Deck and Stateroom?
With the Stateroom package, guests sleep in air-conditioned cabins with en-suite bathrooms and ocean views. This includes premium meals, unlimited snorkeling, equipment, access to the outdoor jacuzzi, TV and games area and glass-bottom boat tours on request. The Top Deck Club package offers additional luxuries such as a personal crew member for guided dives, late check-out, champagne on arrival, dinner under the stars and cocktails – ideal for couples or groups wanting a VIP experience.
Can guests who do different activities travel together?
Yes, divers and snorkelers often travel together on the Reef Encounter. The ship offers a mix of certified divers, snorkelers, diving courses and guests who simply want to enjoy the floating hotel atmosphere.
What is the difference between Certified Diving and Resort Scuba Diving?
Certified Diving is for qualified divers with at least Open Water certification. Resort Scuba Diving requires no previous experience and is for anyone who wants to try diving without a license. All dives are accompanied by experienced instructors, maximum four guests per instructor.
Are meals included in the price?
Yes, all meals – breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert – are freshly prepared every day. Fruit, tea and coffee are available throughout the day. Snacks and alcoholic drinks can be purchased at the bar, alcohol may not be consumed before dives. Special dietary requirements can be catered for with prior notice.
Do I need to bring my own equipment?
Snorkeling and diving equipment is included in the price, including stinger suits during the stinger season. Optionally, wetsuits or masks with prescription lenses can be hired. Personal equipment may of course be brought along.
Which age group is accepted?
The Reef Encounter tours are family-friendly and suitable for all ages. From glass-bottom boat tours to advanced diving, there is something for everyone. Children remain the responsibility of their parents, the ship does not offer childcare.
I am a certified diver but do not have a certification card. Can I still dive?
Yes, if proof of certification can be provided, e.g. logbook or confirmation from the diving organization. Without proof, participation as a certified diver may be refused.
Can I only decide on site whether I want to dive?
Yes, guests can initially book a snorkeling package and take part in a free introduction. Those who feel comfortable can upgrade to a resort dive package on site.
How warm is the water and how good is the visibility?
The water temperatures range from 18 °C in winter to 30 °C in summer. Visibility varies depending on the location, tides, weather and currents and is between 12 and 40 meters.
Which dive sites will be visited and how deep will it go?
Among the sites visited are Norman Reef, Saxon Reef, Hastings Reef, Breaking Patches and Michaelmas Reef. Certified Divers can dive to 18 m, Resort Divers to 12 m. Deep dives to 30 m are possible for advanced divers.
