Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type.

Given the endless beauty, it’s easy to imagine dinosaurs roaming the ancient, interconnected gorges of Kalbarri National Park.

The cliffs formed by the Murchison River, lined with red river gums, are striped in a blood-red hue and form a spectacular contrast to the azure blue, hidden waterholes.

The best views can be enjoyed from the Nature’s Window and Z-Bend viewpoints. For the ultimate adrenaline rush, there is the option of abseiling.

Toast the day in Denham, the gateway to Shark Bay.

Let yourself be enchanted by the mysterious creatures of the big blue in Monkey Mia.

Over 4000 square kilometers along the seabed, the seagrass attracts turtles, whale sharks, bottlenose dolphins and dugongs with its magnificent diversity.

The wonder continues with the 3 billion year old stromatolites at Hamelin Pool, which adorn the sea like carpet-like sculptures.

Finally, watch the sun set and the stars rise in Coral Bay.

The day is free for you to explore Ningaloo Reef at your own pace.

Grab a mask and dive underwater – 250 coral species and over 500 fish species ensure a colorful underwater experience.

If you wish, you can take part in a boat tour (for an extra charge) to swim alongside turtles and manta rays. Alternatively, you can explore the Ningaloo Reef by snorkeling directly from the beach.

In the evening, we spend the night in Exmouth and relax at the end of the day.

After breakfast, you have the opportunity to swim with whale sharks (at an extra charge), the gentle giants of the ocean.

Alternatively, you can spend the day in Cape Range National Park. The park was formed from ancient reefs jutting out of the sea and is known for its contrasting landscape of rugged limestone ranges, deep gorges and picturesque beaches. You will have the chance to observe wild animals such as emus, euros, red kangaroos, bungarras, bustards and many bird species.

Before we end the day, you can swim in Turquoise Bay and enjoy the last golden rays of sunshine at Vlamingh Head Lighthouse.

Back on the road, we head south – sit back and enjoy as the colors of the outback pass you by.

A short stopover in Carnarvon is simply a must, as this is where most of Western Australia is supplied with prawns, scallops, crabs, fish, fruit and vegetables.

Our journey continues through the outback until we reach Northbrook Farm near Northampton, where we spend the night.

On our last evening together, you can experience real country life: Feed the animals, help with the farm chores and listen to local stories under the stars.

We leave the station and make our way to Geraldton. There we visit the HMAS Sydney Memorial viewpoint and learn more about the turbulent history of the region.

Afterwards, St. Francis Xavier Cathedral and Point Moore Lighthouse are on the program.

On the way back to Perth, we stop off at Greenough Wildlife and Bird Park, a sanctuary that promotes conservation and animal rescue. Here you can see dingoes, emus, orphaned kangaroos, saltwater crocodiles, lizards and even snakes up close.

The day ends at the impressive white dunes of the Coral Coast. We return to Perth in the early evening. Use the time for last selfies, exchange contacts with fellow travelers and plan your next adventure.

Campsites offer you comfort: electricity, showers, kitchens and often a nice community atmosphere.
🚐 Freedom camping is ideal for anyone who likes to travel independently and inexpensively – but beware: overnight stays are only permitted in designated areas and vary from state to state.

We recommend a good combination of both in order to travel flexibly and relaxed.

Australia is a popular travel destination – especially during the school vacations, in summer (Dec-Feb) and spring (Sep-Nov) it can quickly become scarce. We recommend this especially for routes with one-way rentals or special camper models:

🕒 The earlier the better – 6+ months in advance is ideal
In the short term, many providers may already be fully booked or only more expensive options may be available.

What you should book well in advance – your Australian adventure

The battery life depends on the type of vehicle and how it is used. On average, the following applies:

1-3 nights self-sufficient – then the vehicle should be reconnected to the power grid (e.g. at a campsite).

🚐 Important to know:
The on-board battery is only fully recharged while driving (slightly) or when connected to the mains.

☀️ Some campers also have a solar panel that supports the battery when parked – ideal for short stops without a power connection. Nevertheless, we recommend:
🔌 Connect to the mains every 2-3 nights – to ensure that the fridge, lights etc. run smoothly.

🚐 With a standard camper (2WD), you may only drive on paved roads.
This means: paved roads or partially well-maintained access roads to official campsites or tourist attractions (depending on the provider).

🌄 O nly with a 4WD camper are you allowed to deviate from paved roads and drive on gravel or off-road routes.
But be careful:
For certain routes (e.g. Gibb River Road, Oodnadatta Track, Cape Leveque Road), written permission from the rental company is often required – and not all providers allow beach drives or river crossings.

💬 O ur tip: If you’re planning an off-road adventure, just let us know – we’ll tell you which routes are permitted and which campers are suitable.

💳 Yes, a credit card is required to collect the vehicle.

Even if you can pay for your booking with Ausventure Travel conveniently by credit card or bank transfer, all rental companies require a valid credit card on collection.

This is required in order to:

  • pre-authorize the deposit (liability sum)(depending on the insurance package selected),
  • to charge any additional fees such as tolls, fines or fuel costs retrospectively.

💡 Tip: A prepaid credit card or debit card is not accepted in most cases. Make sure that your credit card is valid at the time of collection and has a sufficient limit.
