We invite you to come on board and experience an exciting day full of adventure, exciting insights and lots of fun!

This unique experience of observing great white sharks in their natural habitat will give you memories that will last a lifetime.

We are located in Port Lincoln, South Australia, and have the privilege of using natural fishing lures in the Neptune Islands Marine Park to attract great white sharks to our boat.

Permission to lure offers you the best possible chance of shark sightings and intensive interaction near our boat and cage. This creates an unforgettable encounter and perfect conditions for impressive photos.

Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type. 

Transfer to the boat

Pick-up is only possible if the transfer service has been booked.

Transfers are available from most accommodation in Port Lincoln for AUD 15 per person (return) and must be requested at the time of booking.

Bookings must be made no later than 5:30 p.m. on the day before the charter.

Guests of the Port Lincoln Hotel can use the hotel’s own free transfer service; please confirm that you are taking part in the shark tour when you check in.

Check-in

Self-arrivals arrive at 6:00 am at our office, 3/10 South Quay Boulevard (blue building).

The journey – approx. 3 hours

During the crossing, you may be accompanied by dolphin pods and, seasonally, whales.

The friendly crew provide information about the fishing industry, the region and the marine life.

Enjoy the spectacular coastal scenery of the lower Spencer Gulf and the islands of the Thorny Passage.

Seasickness medication is strongly recommended and is available locally.

Time in the water

Groups of up to 8 people enter the spacious cage – the largest in Australia.

Great white sharks are wild and free; they come and go as they please.

The crew ensures that each group has a similar experience in the cage based on their interaction with the sharks; time in the water can therefore vary.

During the day there are plenty of opportunities to observe sharks from the boat.

Catering included: Breakfast, morning tea, lunch, afternoon tea, coffee/tea and filtered water. Soft drinks and bottled water are available on board.

The MV Calypso Star II is a fully licensed ship – the bar is open on the return journey.

No diving qualifications or previous experience are required.

Return to the marina

Return times may vary due to weather conditions and shark activity; we do our best to allow all guests a sighting, even if this requires additional time on site.

Estimated return: approx. 18:00 – 21:00.

Guests must stay at least two nights in Port Lincoln: the night before and the night of the tour in order not to miss any flights.

Cancellation Policy

  • Cancellations within 2 days before the start date will be charged a fee of 100%.
  • Cancellations between 2 and 365 days before the start date will be charged a fee of 20%.

As these are wild animals in their natural habitat, we cannot recommend an exact time. Each year can be different. This information is intended to provide our guests with an honest basis for decision-making.

Children under the age of 8 may only enter the water at the skipper’s discretion. All children under the age of 16 must be supervised at all times by an adult who must also be in the water. Guests under the age of 18 require a consent form signed by a parent or guardian.

No. Our tours are “surface diving”, where you stay 0.5-1.2 m below the surface. No diving qualifications are required. Before diving there is a full briefing and practice on the surface.

No. No decoys are permitted by law. We only use locally caught, natural fish products attached with natural fibers to attract the sharks.

No. The price applies to all guests as everyone on board has the opportunity to watch sharks. We encourage guests who wish to cage dive to do so, but respect those who prefer to watch.

The time depends on the activity of the sharks. The crew ensures that all groups have a similar experience. There are also many opportunities to observe the sharks from the boat.

No, sharks are wild animals and free, and we are the only day operator with a “no shark policy”: if no shark is sighted, there is a discount on the next tour.
