Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type. 

Hobart → Strahan
Start your Tasmania round trip with three spectacular national parks: Russell Falls in Mt Field NP, the deepest lake in Australia – Lake St Clair – and the wild landscapes of Franklin-Gordon NP. Stopover in Queenstown before you reach the harbor town of Strahan.
Overnight stay: Strahan

Wild West Coast
Choose between a rainforest & sand dune walk or an optional Gordon River Cruise (at extra cost) through Macquarie Harbour & Sarah Island. Later visit Ocean Beach, Tasmania’s longest beach.

Cradle Mountain → Launceston
Explore Cradle Mountain NP: look out for wombats at Ronny Creek and choose your hike – either to Marion’s Lookout or around Dove Lake. Continue to Sheffield (Town of Murals) and Launceston.

Launceston → Bicheno
Walk through the Cataract Gorge, drive along the east coast to St Helens and experience the white beaches & turquoise bays of the Bay of Fires (Larapuna). Day’s destination: the coastal town of Bicheno, home of the little penguins.
Overnight stay: Bicheno

Freycinet NP → Hobart
Hike to the legendary Wineglass Bay Lookout (or the challenging Mt Amos), enjoy the beaches & granite mountains of Freycinet NP. Finish with Cape Tourville Lighthouse overlooking the Tasman Sea. Return to Hobart.

You have the choice of accommodation in a hostel or motel.

Our Original Tours are self-catering tours. There are many stops at restaurants, cafés, take-aways and supermarkets. Hostel guests can use the kitchens. Please bring your own water bottle/keep cup and recycle where possible. We recommend trying regional, seasonal products and supporting local suppliers. Lunch is usually bought in the morning to enjoy on the go – leaving more time for nature & culture. In the evening, there is the option of a relaxed meal. The guides are happy to give tips on regional food.

Minimum age: 8 years, no maximum age. A thirst for adventure and a good basic level of fitness are important so that all guests can enjoy the tour and the daily experiences as much as possible.

No, you must arrive in the departure city at least one day before the start of the tour. As our day and multi-day tours start early, it is not possible to arrive on the same day.

All tours start and end in Hobart. Our partners offer pick-up and drop-off from selected locations in Hobart city center. Pick-up from the airport, private addresses or Airbnbs is not possible. When booking, you can select your desired pick-up point from a list. We will be happy to provide you with this list of locations and times. If you do not want to commit yourself at the time of booking, please let us know your pick-up location at least 72 hours before the start of the tour.
