Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type.

The tour starts at Nomads Hostel in Noosa. Included is a transfer to Rainbow Beach, where the four-wheel drive vehicles are waiting for you. Take the ferry from Inskip Point to Fraser Island and then drive along the famous 75-mile beach. Visit Lake Wabby and/or Lake Birrabeen and enjoy lunch with the group. Explore the rainforest at Wanggoolba Creek and Central Station before heading back to camp. Experience a breathtaking sunset, enjoy dinner with the group and end the day under a clear starry sky on the beach.

After a simple breakfast, you set off for the highlights of Fraser Island. Visit Eli Creek and enjoy a refreshing dip in the fresh water. Then explore the world-famous Maheno shipwreck. Lunch is on the way, followed by a short stop at the colorful sands of the Pinnacles. Then it’s on to Indian Head Lookout and the spectacular Champagne Pools. In the evening, you return to camp for the last night and enjoy dinner with the group.

On the last day, you will have breakfast on the island before heading to the breathtaking Lake McKenzie. Relax on the white quartz sand and enjoy the surroundings. After lunch, we make our way to the ferry to leave the island at around 14:30. The four-wheel drive vehicles are returned to Rainbow Beach before the transfer back to Noosa, where we arrive at around 17:00.

Experience FAQs

We sleep in 4-person tents with beds, comfortable mattresses, pillows and bed linen. There is a sanitary area with hot showers and flush toilets, a small store and everything is protected by a dingo fence. The beach is just a short walk away – perfect for sunrise and sunset.

Yes, you can take part as a navigator, DJ, photographer or comedian – or just sit back and enjoy the ride.

Tours also take place in the rain. Queensland can be affected by cyclones and heavy rain, so please bring a rain jacket. Cancellations are rare as most guests have tight travel schedules.

Yes, alcohol can be brought along. Preferably in cans – no boxed wines (“Goon”) or glass allowed.

Driving is permitted if you are at least 21 years old, have 2 years of driving experience and have a valid driver’s license. Driving licenses that are not issued in English must include an international driving license.

The return time cannot be guaranteed as tides and island conditions vary. Usually: Rainbow Beach 12pm – 3pm, Noosa 3pm – 7pm. We do not recommend onward travel on the same day.

Hot and cold water, flush toilets and showers are available a short distance from the camp.

Dingoes are fascinating animals, but they are also wild animals and can become aggressive if provoked. Follow the guides’ instructions on how to behave in a dingo-safe manner, always walk in a group and take a stick with you when you leave the camp – then you’ll be safe!

Minimum age 18 years. Guests are predominantly young, international travelers, but every “young at heart” participant is welcome.

Take both pieces of luggage with you at the start of your tour. Pack a small bag for the island. Your large luggage will be stored at Rainbow Beach and collected on your return from the island. (We accept no responsibility or compensation for loss or damage to your belongings during storage or the tour).
