Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type.

Before your unique West Coast tour starts, you have time to stock up on snacks and drinks in the stores. Then it’s off to Lancelin, where your first adventure awaits: sandboarding and a delicious lunch.

The journey then takes you to the fascinating Pinnacles Desert. You will reach the campsite in the evening, where you can enjoy the sunset with your new travel companions – perhaps even with a cold beer in your hand.

In the morning, you can relax on the beach or take part in an optional sea lion experience. The journey then continues to Geraldton and the spectacular Pink Lake – a perfect place for great photos!

Check into your Kalbarri hostel for the next two nights and then enjoy the sunset on the beach. After dinner, the fun can begin when the red cups are unpacked for games and activities.

Explore the impressive Kalbarri National Park on a multi-hour hike to Nature’s Window and Z Bend. Visit the new Kalbarri Skywalk and enjoy the breathtaking views. After dinner, head back to Kalbarri, where you can marvel at the spectacular Coastal Cliffs or end the evening relaxing in the pub.

In the morning, head to the Shark Bay World Heritage Site. Visit Shell Beach, relax and swim in the crystal-clear water.

In the afternoon, some luxury awaits you: you will spend the night in dormitories at the Monkey Mia Dolphin Resort. After dinner and a breathtaking sunset, you can go to the jetty and watch dolphins – maybe even a turtle.

In the morning, you only have to walk 50 meters to the water, because it’s time to meet the famous dolphins of Monkey Mia. If you’re lucky, you might even get to feed Flipper at breakfast!

Afterwards, you will have time to enjoy the beautiful beach at Monkey Mia or relax in the resort’s pools. The journey continues in the afternoon: after a three-hour drive, you will spend the night at the authentic Wooramel station.

In the morning, head to Carnarvon, where you have the opportunity to do some shopping.

In the afternoon, the journey continues to the incredible and remote beach resort of Coral Bay. After checking into the hostel, we head to a pub for dinner and a relaxed end to the day.

You now have a day and a half free to explore the breathtaking reef, snorkel or take part in optional activities such as fishing trips, diving or manta ray tours.

Or you can simply relax on the beach and enjoy time with your new friends. The days usually start early, and in the late afternoon it’s time to blow off steam and party!

Your accommodation is just a five-minute walk from the beach and all the city’s sights – a place you’ll fall in love with immediately.

In the morning you have free time to relax or explore Coral Bay. Snorkel directly on the beach or take a walk to the shark sanctuary.

In the afternoon, the journey continues to Exmouth – after around two hours’ drive, you will visit the impressive Charles Knife Canyon and enjoy the sunset at the lighthouse.

Check into the Potshot Hostel/Bar for the next two nights.

Today the journey takes you to Cape Range National Park, where you will go on a short hike and snorkel in the award-winning Turquoise Bay. Optionally, you can also swim with whale sharks today.

In the evening, enjoy a delicious dinner and drinks at the famous Whalebone Brewery.

Today we head inland into the red-earth heart of the Pilbara. Keep your eyes peeled – you might even spot a cheeky dingo!

Today you will explore the Knox, Weano and Hancock gorges. You hike down to Kermits Pool, where a refreshing dip awaits you. You will also visit the Oxers, Junction Pool and Joffre viewpoints.

Note: The places visited may vary depending on weather conditions and accessibility in the park.

Today you drive to the Dales Gorge and walk about 1.5 km through the impressive gorge landscape to Fortescue Falls and the famous Fern Pool.

In the afternoon, you say goodbye to the group that is heading back to Perth and make your way to Broome. In the evening, you board the Integrity Coach bus to Port Hedland (departure 20:15, arrival 23:30) and then travel on to Broome on the night bus.

Note: The places visited may vary depending on the weather and accessibility of the park.

Experience FAQs

We opt for a more relaxed pace of travel on our longer tours. This means less time on the bus per day, later wake-up times, sociable evenings and simply more time to enjoy the West Coast! The Why Not Bus is perfect for adventurous travelers and the young at heart. (Of course, if you’re older and enjoy traveling with a younger group, that’s no problem).

The trip includes a mixture of campsites, caravan parks, station stays and hostels.* When camping, we provide a tent (double occupancy), a mat and a sleeping bag. The sleeping bags are warm, but please bring warm clothes to sleep in, especially in the winter months. Pillows are not provided. *Note: The planned accommodation may vary slightly depending on the weather or other circumstances.

Each tour is accompanied by an experienced driver-guide who ensures that the trip is smooth, safe and unforgettable. The guide not only sits behind the wheel, but also shares local knowledge, takes care of logistics and ensures that guests can relax and enjoy the ride. On our tours, everyone helps out to make things run smoothly – and this often makes the experience even more fun and social. Participants are split into small teams who take it in turns to take care of simple tasks such as cooking, cleaning and setting up camp. This turns a group of strangers into a well-functioning crew. Everything is ready for the nights under the stars: a fully equipped trailer kitchen and camping equipment are provided. At the beginning of the tour, everyone is given a clear schedule of tasks so that they know exactly when it is their turn to prepare meals or do the washing up. Many of the best memories are made during these shared moments – chopping vegetables, setting up the tents or washing up together. It’s a relaxed, collegial way to socialize quickly and bond with your fellow travelers.

Western Australia is huge – long distances are part of it! On our 13-day West Coast tour from Perth to Broome, you’ll cover over 4,000 km. However, with longer stops in each location, you’ll spend less time on the bus per day and have more opportunity to enjoy the scenery and activities.
