Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type. 

08:45-09:15 – Check-in
Check-in at the Sunlover counter in the Reef Fleet Terminal, Cairns. Boarding closes at 10:00 am.

10:15 am – Departure
Departure with the Sunlover catamaran to Fitzroy Island – only approx. 60 minutes crossing.

Day stay on Fitzroy Island
Enjoy the beautiful beaches and crystal-clear water.
Explore the rainforest walking trails, discover colorful coral reefs directly from the beach or visit the Cairns Turtle Rehabilitation Centre.

16:30 – Return to Cairns
Arrival at the Reef Fleet Terminal – full of impressions of an unforgettable island adventure.

  • Cancellations within one day before the start date will be charged a fee of 100%.

Experience FAQs

Our catamaran departs from the Cairns Marlin Marina. Check-in is at the Sunlover desk in the Reef Terminal (corner of Spence St & Pier Point Road). The boat is clearly labeled with orange Sunlover branding and “Fitzroy Island”.

Check-in and collection of boarding passes from 08:30-09:30 at the Sunlover counter in the Reef Terminal. Important: Guests who have not checked in by 09:30 risk missing boarding.

Pack your bag as if for a day at the beach. We recommend: Swimwear, beach towel, sunscreen (reef-safe, min. SPF 30+), sun protection clothing (T-shirt or rash vest), hat, sunglasses, cash or credit card for shopping, food & drinks (or buy locally), refillable water bottle, sturdy shoes for hiking, camera (GoPro rental on board), reef shoes

The crossing takes about 45 minutes.

Day guests have access to all areas of the island, with the exception of some facilities reserved exclusively for resort guests.
