Experience FAQs

Yes, a bike is the best way to explore the island. You can bring your own bike or rent one directly on the island.

The route around the island is around 22 kilometers long. Depending on your fitness level and photo stops, a round trip takes around 1.5 to 2 hours.

Cycling on Rottnest Island is easy and fun – the roads are paved, well signposted and mostly flat. As there are no private cars, cycling is the best way to experience the island.

For departures from Northport in Fremantle, there is a large, secure parking lot with over 400 spaces – ideal for day and multi-day trips. For departures from B Shed, there are several parking lots within walking distance. It can fill up quickly in high season, so we recommend arriving early.

Yes, there are lockers in several places on the island where you can safely store your belongings while you are out and about.

Especially in the high season, it is worth reserving the equipment in advance so that it is available for your desired date. In the low season, spontaneous rental on site is usually also possible.

No, there are no age restrictions. However, children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Basic swimming skills are recommended to be able to snorkel safely.

The most popular snorkeling spots include The Basin, Little Salmon Bay, Parker Point and Parakeet Bay. Here you can expect crystal-clear water, colorful corals, tropical fish and, with a bit of luck, even sea turtles. Some spots are only accessible after a short walk or swim – so check the conditions in advance.

Boarding closes 5 minutes before departure. The gangways are then removed so that the ferry can depart on time. So allow enough time for check-in.
