About 20 percent of Australia’s sugar cane comes from the rum production capital. The cultivation area extends to around 600 square kilometres around Bundaberg. Other attractions include a large shipyard and a world-famous turtle breeding area. Bundaberg has the southernmost access to the Great Barrier Reef and popular destination are Lady Elliot and Lady Musgrave Island.
