What is your Covid-19 policy?

Planning a trip in these uncertain times can cause a real headache. But we’ve got you! Should COVID-19 related travel restrictions, i.e. border closures, quarantine requirements or other measures being put in place that prevent you from travelling, we as Ausventure Travel will not charge a cancellation fee. In accordance with the product provider you have booked with you will either be issued a 100% travel credit or receive a full refund. Please see our Terms and Conditions for more details.

What happens if restrictions prevent me from travelling?

We know these are uncertain times. Should COVID-related travel restrictions such as a lockdown, border closures or quarantine rules prevent you from travelling, we will issue either 100% travel credit for the amount you have paid or a full refund. Which one of those options apply to you will depend on the relevant partner’s refund policy .Please check with us which of the two options applies to your booking. All cancellation must be made in writing.

What if I test positive for COVID-19 ahead of my trip?

The safety of our customers is our top priority. In either of those cases you can change your travel dates free of charge or apply for a travel credit for the amount you have paid which you can use for future bookings with the same provider. All cancellations must be made in writing and proof, such as a copy of the positive test result, might be required by our partners in order to waive the cancellation fee.

The event I had planned to go to was cancelled. Can I get a refund for my rental vehicle?

If you’re finding yourself in a situation in which your rental contract is not immediately affected by COVID-related measures but your envisioned itinerary or events you have booked through other suppliers are to change, our standard T&Cs might apply. If you wish to cancel your vehicle booking, the respective rental company might raise a cancellation fee as outlined in our T&Cs. What does Ausventure Travel do?

We’re an online travel agency and help with all the things needed to create beautiful/fun/adventurous trips for our customers. We plan itineraries, book tours, activities and campervans, arrange discounts, create package deals and overall ensure that you can have a good time.

You basically get to enjoy fantastic customer service and still pay less than you would booking all of the trip components yourself. As an agency we have access to competitive prices for campervan and motorhome rentals, as well as guided trips and activities, meaning we can book all things needed for a holiday at a discount.

You want to make changes to your existing quote? No worries! Camper Rentals

How old do I have to be to rent a campervan?

Most of our partners require drivers to be at least 21 years old, with a few exceptions which accept drivers as young as 18 as long as they hold a full driver’s licence in English or an Australian Green P Plate (P2) licence. Young drivers may be restricted to certain vehicle types and a young driver’s surcharge fee may be applied.

How do I choose the right campervan for me?

There are a few things to consider and the clearer you are what you want / need the easier it will be to find the right fit. Ask yourself these few basic questions.

  • What’s my budget?
  • How many people need to comfortably sleep in the vehicle?
  • Do I really need washroom facilities?
  • Are there any features I couldn’t live without?
  • Where do I want to go?

Which insurance options are available?

We generally offer two options: The standard liability option included in the risk-taker package is the amount you will be liable to pay in the event of an accident or damage to the vehicle, regardless of who is at fault. If no reduction option is taken the full amount is charged as a bond on pickup. The ease-of-mind package has the lowest level of liability and with that reduces the bond significantly if not to NIL. This option is the best value for money and often comes with a bunch of included items, such as baby seats, camping chairs and table, the fee for a second driver etc.

Do I need a credit card to make a booking?

While Ausventure Travel offers payments to be made via credit card, bank transfer or PayPal, a valid credit will be required when you pick-up the vehicle from our partner. Your credit card will be used to pre-authorise the selected bond amount. If you do incur extra fees, such as speeding or parking fines, this will also be charged to your credit card.

What is included in the hire?

To be honest, it depends. Our database encompasses nearly 200 vehicles from different companies all of which have different features, insurance options and available extras. But don’t worry, all of our quotes include a comprehensive list which compares the best available options and clearly shows pricing, key features of each vehicle, available reduced liability options and extras you can add to your booking, such as a GPS, camping table & chairs and additional drivers.

What is the minimum rental period?

Most of our partners have a 5-7 minimum rental policy. During peak times, such as Christmas and Easter, this may be extended to 7, 10 or 14 days.

Can I take the campervan off road?

Standard two-wheel drive vehicles, such as campervans and motorhomes can only be driven on sealed/bitumen roads or well-maintained access roads which lead to recognised campgrounds. Only 4WD vehicles can be taken off sealed roads. If you’re planning an off-road adventure it’s worth checking in with us as you may need additional written permission by the vehicle provider to take the van on some of the popular tracks.

How long does the battery system last?

This can vary from one vehicle to the next but we recommend that the vehicle is plugged into main power every two nights since your board battery only recharges when connected to mains power or will trickle charge when you’re driving the vehicle. Some vehicles have solar panel backup, which helps recharge the board area battery when parked.

Can I bring my pet with me?

If you want to bring a furry friend, let us know. A few of our partners allow you to bring up to two registered dogs or cats with you. It’s worth noting that this must be pre-booked and will incur an additional fee.

Bookings & Payments

How can I book?

It’s super simple – just follow these steps:

  1. Take your pick. Let us know which vehicle you’ve decided on and which insurance option you’d like to book. We’ll get back to you with your booking details.
  2. Make a payment. Go through your booking documents and pay for the outlined amount via bank transfer, PayPal or credit card
  3. Receive your travel documents. We’ll process your booking once we’ve received payment and send you all the needed documentation for your trip via email.
  4. Get planning!

Can I pay a deposit to reserve my camper?

In most cases we just require a deposit to reserve your camper. Depending on the individual rental company’s preferences the final balance will either be paid to us 4-8 weeks prior to your travel start or can be paid on arrival. If your departure date is within the next 4 weeks, we might require the full amount to reserve your camper.

Which payment options are available?

We accept credit card payments as well as bank transfers and payments via PayPal. Bank transfers are free of charge, Credit Card payments incur a 2.2% fee and PayPal incurs a 3% fee.

How can I make changes to my booking?

You can simply send us an email to [email protected] or text +61 8 95046143 with your amendment request and we will check availability with the individual provider for you.

We at Ausventure Travel do not charge an administration fee when making requested changes to your booking. Please note that amendments may result in the daily rental rate to be recalculated at the rate applicable on the date of the amendment for the entire rental period and the price for your rental might increase as a result.

How can I cancel my booking?

You can email your cancellation request to [email protected] and we’ll forward this to your provider. You can find the cancellation fees charged by each of our partners in our Terms and Conditions.

Tours & Activities

Can I book open-dated tours?

Usually – yes. Some suppliers require a booking to be made 10 – 14 days in advance for their popular tours but mostly it’s no worries to book open-dated tickets. Your order and travel vouchers will state all the information you need to lock in your tour dates.

Can I change the date of my tour?

That’s not up to us, but we’re here to help. Date changes are at the operator’s discretion and might incur a date-change fee. If you would like to change the date of your tour or activity please contact us directly and we will check on this for you.

Can I cancel my tour if I am feeling unwell on the day?

This is one of the times when travel insurance comes in handy. The first thing to do is to contact us or the supplier directly to let them know that you are unable to attend the tour. If you are unable to reschedule then you should contact your travel insurance provider to claim any refunds.

My tour got cancelled, will I receive a refund?

You sure will. We will either provide you with a full refund or reschedule the tour for you if this is suitable.

We are a large group, do you offer group discounts?

What is an extra cost?

An extra cost is something you will pay directly to the supplier upon arrival, for example National Park fees or insurance levies. But don’t worry, it’s all very transparent. We will let you know of all extra costs before you make your booking and this information will also be stated on your purchased voucher to remind you. Most of our trips are ‘All Inclusive’ meaning there will be no extra fees after you’ve paid your balance.

How much luggage can I take on my tour?

Generally, if you are booked on a trip lasting between 1- 5 days and you’re returning to the same place you departed from then the luggage allowance is between 7 and 15kg and restricted to a small backpack and a handbag.

My Travel Documents

Do I have to print my travel voucher?

Unless otherwise stated, it is fine to present your travel documents on your phone or tablet.

Should I confirm my booking before I start my trip?

We strongly recommend you follow your travel voucher instructions and re-confirm your booking 24 to 48 hours before you are due to depart. Our partners may require additional information from you such as your dietary requirements, the address of your accommodation for pick-up, needed rental equipment etc.

How long are open dated travel vouchers valid for?

An entire year. All travel vouchers are valid 12 months from the date of purchase.

Can I change my pick up location?

Yes absolutely. You can call the operator directly to arrange your pick-up. Their number can be found on the top page of your travel voucher
