Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type.

Your outback adventure begins at 6 a.m. in Alice Springs. Alternatively, you can board the plane at Ayers Rock Airport in the early afternoon at 1 pm. Even the drive offers you impressive views of the endless desert landscape before you reach Uluru.

In the afternoon, you will visit the Uluru-Kata Tjuta Cultural Center. Here you will learn exciting facts about Aboriginal culture and the spiritual significance of Uluru. Afterwards, you will go on a guided hike at the foot of the rock, where you can experience some of the most famous and impressive sites up close.

In the late afternoon, watch Uluru glow in the most beautiful colors as the sun sets while you enjoy a glass of sparkling wine with the group. Afterwards, you can round off the evening in the comfort of the camp. After a freshly prepared dinner, an unforgettable night awaits you in a traditional outback swag under a breathtaking starry sky.

After a hearty breakfast, you will experience how the first rays of sunlight bathe Uluru in warm light – an unforgettable moment. Then it’s on to Kata Tjuta, where the impressive rock domes await you. Together you will hike through the Valley of the Winds, past narrow gorges and steep rock faces, while magnificent views of the desert landscape open up again and again.

At lunchtime, fortify yourself with a picnic in the middle of the outback before continuing your journey through the endless expanses of the red center in the afternoon. Spectacular panoramas await you on the way to the George Gill Range, showing just how vast and varied this region is.

In the evening, you reach Kings Creek Station, where you set up camp. Here the day ends around the campfire with a hearty Australian BBQ. Afterwards, another night in the swag under the twinkling stars of the outback awaits you – an experience you won’t soon forget.

After breakfast, we drive to the impressive Kings Canyon and take the famous Rim Walk. Afterwards you can relax in the peaceful desert oasis “Garden of Eden”. We then return to Kings Creek Station, where we relax and have lunch. In the evening, we continue to our private bush camp at Curtin Springs Station. There you will experience the sunset over Mt. Conner and enjoy your last night under the starry sky of the outback.

The day starts relaxed with a well-deserved lie-in before a hot breakfast is served. On the way back, we make one last photo stop at Uluru before the tour ends at Ayers Rock Airport at around 10:00 am.

Experience FAQs

Yes, Mulgas Adventures will ensure that you are dropped off at the airport on time. Please inform your guide if you have an early departure from Ayers Rock (Uluru Airport).

A swag is made of robust canvas and sewn into a cocoon-like sack that offers warmth, comfort and security – the ultimate bush bed! It has a 5 cm thick, comfortable mattress. You sleep in your sleeping bag inside the swag, so body heat is trapped in the sleeping bag and swag. Much warmer than a tent!

It can get colder at night depending on the time of year. In winter, temperatures can drop to 0 °C, while in summer they are usually around 20 °C. Check the weather forecast before the tour so that you have the right clothing.

You should bring at least 2 liters of water per person for the tour (3 liters in the hot months), as you can refill on the way. Also important: a hat, sturdy shoes for hiking, swimwear for the summer, a towel (which can also be used as a carpet pad), a small bag for personal items, toiletries, a sleeping bag (can also be rented), camera, insect repellent including a fly net, warm clothing for cool desert evenings and a pillow or improvised alternative, e.g. a rolled-up sweater.

You should plan at least 2 liters of water per person, in the hot months at least 3 liters. You can refill your bottle at various points along the way.

We can cater for vegetarians, vegans, gluten or lactose free diets. Please note that this is a camping tour, so some common foods may not be available. Please indicate any special requirements when booking.

There can be a lot of flies in the summer months. It is recommended that you take a fly net with you.

There are daily hikes of varying length and difficulty. On the first day at Uluru, there are walks of up to 9.4 km or shorter options such as Kantju Gorge or Mutitjulu Waterhole. On the second day in Kata Tjuta, the Valley of the Winds Walk is moderately challenging, alternatively there is the Walpa Gorge Walk. On the third day at Kings Canyon, the Rim Walk leads over the edge of the canyon, with easier alternatives such as the Kings Creek Walk or South Wall Walk. Your guide will help you choose the right route for your fitness and energy levels.

Yes, this is possible. You should arrive in Alice Springs at least one night in advance, as the tour starts at 6 a.m. on the first day. The return is in the early evening of the fourth day.

Optional bookings include a sleeping bag (30 AUD for the entire tour), a camel ride at Uluru, a helicopter tour at Kings Creek Station and your flights.

The first two nights offer hot showers and electricity. The last night is in a remote location with only toilets. We recommend taking a power bank with you to charge your electronic devices.
