What you should book well in advance – your Australian adventure

Knowledge that enriches your travels.

Book early, travel relaxed

Australia is huge and beautiful – but if you want to be in the right place at the right time, you should plan a few things well in advance. Otherwise it can quickly become stressful (and expensive!), especially during peak season. Here you can find out what you should book now – including our ultimate camper tips!

Campers – as early as possible!

Want to travel through Australia in a campervan? Then don’t wait too long! Many models are booked out quickly, especially during the school vacations and in the high season (November to March).

✅ Advantages of booking early:
You have a wider choice of vehicles (including budget campers and family-friendly options).
There are often early booking discounts.
You secure the best price for your preferred dates.

Extra tip:

In popular areas such as the east coast or Tasmania, it can even happen that nothing is available at all during the vacation season.

Booking early = relaxed travel!

Multi-day tours & guided trips

Many tours are limited, seasonal or only start 1-2 times a month. You should definitely plan these in advance:

  • K’Gari Island & Whitsundays – multi-day island adventures
  • Multi-day Great Ocean Road Tour – legendary coastal road
  • Kangaroo Island
  • PADI Courses Cairns
  • Orca Tour Bremer Bay – Jan-April only!
  • Guided Uluru tours
  • guided Tasmania tours
  • Guided West Coast tours – some only start 1-2 times a month!

Hostels and accommodation in the high season

Whether it’s Christmas in Sydney or festivals in Melbourne – the best hostels are quickly snapped up:

  • Sydney at Christmas & New Year’s Eve – fireworks with a view!
  • Melbourne during events such as the Australian Open, Melbourne Cup etc.
  • Magnetic Island (e.g. Nomads, Roamer) – book early for cheap accommodation & ferry packages

Campsites during vacation periods

Popular, full & expensive – that’s the motto for campsites during the vacation season.

Especially around:

  • December-January (Summer Break)
  • Easter, Anzac Day, Australia Day

So here too: Book early!

Conclusion: It pays to book early – for campers, tours and accommodation.

Those who are prepared save money, secure the best spots and can relax and look forward to the adventure that is Australia!
