Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type. 

The whale watching tours depart twice daily from Hervey Bay Marina:

Morning tour: Departure 8:30 am – Return 12:30 pm

Afternoon tour: Departure 13:30 – Return 17:30

Boarding begins 15 minutes before departure. After a short safety briefing, the guides will give you an overview of the day’s schedule.

Then it’s time to cast off! Our experienced guides know the waters like the back of their hand and know exactly where the whales are. Depending on the conditions, they decide when it’s time to get the cameras ready – so that you have the best chance of experiencing the majestic humpback whales up close as they jump, splash around or swim past curiously.

The Guaranteed Sightings Policy applies to our half-day tour: if, exceptionally, no whales are sighted, you will receive an open return ticket and can take part in another tour free of charge. However, it is very rare that no whales are sighted during the season.

Yes, our tours run in almost any weather. We only have to cancel in extreme conditions that make it impossible to carry out the tour safely.

The number of whales varies depending on the time of the season. In the high season (August to September), the chances of many sightings are particularly high.

Humpback whales are wild animals and do not have a fixed schedule. Their behavior is similar in the morning and in the afternoon. So simply choose the time that suits you best.

The humpback whales can be observed in Hervey Bay during their southern migration from the beginning of July to the end of October. The exact dates may vary slightly from year to year.
