What should I bring for a day trip?
Pack your swimsuit, hat, sunscreen, camera and suitable footwear for the water (e.g. old sneakers, reef walking shoes or Crocs).
Can I use my cell phone on the island?
There is no cell phone reception on Lady Elliot Island – and that’s exactly what makes it so attractive! A telephone is available in the reception area and WLAN can be used for a fee, including for WLAN telephony.
Can I snorkel directly from the beach?
Yes, you can go into the water directly from the beach – a boat is not necessary. There are numerous entry points to the reef on the island.
Can I hire snorkeling equipment?
Snorkeling equipment (mask, snorkel and closed fins) is already included in the daily or overnight price. You can collect it from the dive store and keep it for the duration of your stay.
Can I dive on a day trip?
No, diving is not permitted on a day visit, as there must be at least 18 hours between the last dive and a flight. You must stay on the island for at least one night to dive.
How long does the flight to the island take?
From Bundaberg approx. 30 minutes, from Hervey Bay approx. 40 minutes, from Brisbane approx. 80 minutes and from the Gold Coast approx. 100 minutes. Flights may vary depending on weather, aircraft type or possible stopovers.
What luggage can I take with me as a day guest?
Day passengers may only take one small item of hand luggage (max. 4 kg) such as a rucksack or personal items (handbag, camera, laptop/tablet in a thin sleeve, jacket). As there are no overhead lockers or storage space under the seats, items must be stowed on your lap or in the overhead compartment.
Which meals are included for day guests?
An extensive buffet lunch is included in the price for day guests.
Are there jellyfish (stingers) around Lady Elliot Island?
No, unlike islands further north, there is no stinger season here – swimming is safe all year round.
