Itinerary

Exact itineraries vary depending on the tour type.

tarte early into the day! Guests from Noosa are picked up between 5:20 and 5:45 am and drive along a scenic route to Rainbow Beach, where the whole group meets at 7:30 am.

From there, head to Inskip Point, where the ferry is waiting. Keep your eyes peeled – dolphins, dugongs and other marine animals are often spotted here during the crossing to K’gari (Fraser Island), which is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

On the island, you drive the famous 75 Mile Beach, also known as the “sand highway”. First stop: Eli Creek, a crystal-clear stream that is perfect for dipping your feet in the water or just floating along. Continue along the coast to the famous shipwreck of the SS Maheno, where you will learn fascinating stories about its past.

Then head inland to the breathtaking Boorangoora (Lake McKenzie) – one of the most photographed places in Australia. Here you have time to swim in the crystal-clear water or relax on the white sandy beach.

The tour then takes you (depending on the tide) to the historic Central Station, the former logging camp. Your guide will tell you more about the history of logging, the mighty rainforests and the tranquillity of Wanggoolba Creek. You have the option of taking a short walk along the creek to Pile Valley before getting back into the vehicle.

From there it’s back to Eastern Beach and down 75 Mile Beach to the ferry. You will arrive in Rainbow Beach at around 16:30. Guests from Noosa continue on and are back between 17:30 and 19:00.

Experience FAQs

Return to Rainbow Beach is between 15:00 and 16:30, guests to Noosa arrive between 17:30 and 19:00.

Pack the essentials: Hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, insect repellent, swimwear, towel, camera and a refillable water bottle. Snacks are optional – morning tea and lunch are already included.

Every day on K’gari (Fraser Island) is different – that’s what makes a 4WD tour so appealing! Some tracks are smooth, others can be quite bumpy depending on the weather and traffic. Our drivers are very experienced, but you should still expect a few bumps. If you have any health concerns, please contact us before booking.

Part of the adventure is the drive on the sandy tracks of K’gari (Fraser Island). Guests from Noosa have an additional 1.5 hours drive to Rainbow Beach (each way). On the island itself, the roads are longer than they seem, as the sandy tracks are slower to drive on. However, we make several stops – e.g. for morning tea on the beach, for a swim in Lake McKenzie or for a rainforest walk.

Our day vehicles only have limited storage space. It is best to leave larger bags in your accommodation. Alternatively, you can contact us in advance to discuss a solution.

Unfortunately, children under the age of 5 cannot participate due to legal regulations (child seats/anchors). It is possible for children aged 5+ with a booster seat to participate, but we ask parents to bear in mind that the day is long and there are limited facilities for children along the way. Please inform us at the time of booking if a booster seat is required.
