Experience FAQs

Pro Dive Cairns offers free hotel and hostel transfers in Cairns and from the Northern Beaches up to Palm Cove. However, we do not pick up from private addresses or AirBnBs. In this case, you can be picked up at the nearest hotel/hostel or an agreed meeting point. Please note that we do not offer transfers from the airport.

Yes, this is possible. If your partner is certified, he/she will be assigned with another diver on board while you complete your four open water training dives. Afterwards, you will have the opportunity to do up to five fun dives together. If you are traveling with someone who does not dive, there will also be plenty of opportunities to snorkel and relax together.

All three ships have 14 cabins with bunk beds (each for two people) and 2 cabins with double beds, which are allocated at no extra charge. However, the double bed cabins are only available in limited numbers and are allocated on a first come, first served basis. There are 8 shared bathrooms with showers on board. If you are traveling alone, you will automatically be accommodated in a twin cabin with a person of the same sex.

Yes, you are welcome to bring alcohol, as we do not sell any on board. However, please only bring a moderate amount as the storage space is limited. Important: Once you have consumed alcohol, you will not be allowed back in the water that day. Pro Dive Cairns places great emphasis on responsible drinking.

Many guests travel alone and the crew will help you find a suitable dive buddy. You can change your buddy at any time during the trip.

Please bring two towels – one for swimming and one for showering. You should also pack swimwear, comfortable clothing for three days (including something warm for the evening), a hat, toiletries and reef-safe sunscreen. We recommend that you only take one small bag with you, as space on board is limited. You can store the rest of your luggage safely in our store.

The Great Barrier Reef is not a classic deep-sea diving destination. Most of our dive sites are between 10 and 25 meters deep. As corals need sunlight to grow, you will find many of the most beautiful dives at a depth of 10-15 meters.

We recommend waiting at least 24 hours after your last dive before boarding the plane. It is possible to fly and dive the same day afterwards – but not the other way around. Your last dive will be around 12 noon on the last day of the tour. You can fly from the following day after 12 noon without any problems. Please refrain from activities such as skydiving, ballooning or excursions to Kuranda during this time.
