Formerly a navy base, now a well-known city where tourism is booming. The city centre is relatively unspectacular – but the surrounding beaches are breathtakingly beautiful. One of the main attractions takes place from April to June, when you can snorkel with whale sharks! In winter you can also watch humpback whales, ideally from the lighthouse. The fascinating underwater world of the Ningaloo Reef can be explored with one of the many boat tours that are offered. The 260-kilometre-long Ningaloo Reef is particularly famous for its corals, there are more than 220 species here!
